stand still in the garden bereft
seeds released to the warming ground
in just one of many fleeting moments
happening between the blink of an eye
tight buds open unfurling tender leaves
silver catkins burst with blooms offering
the first of spring's strongly scented nectar
to extremely hungry flies and bees
