Installations/Exhibitions
Through collaboration with diverse organizations such as: art centers, galleries, State Parks, nature centers, spiritual centers and schools, I create interactive, site-specific installations. The installations, whether they are placed indoors or outdoors, focus on reconnecting participants with the natural world. Trees generally serve as the keystones of a site-specific installation with the installation often placed at their bases.
Preparation for an installation generally includes several visits to the site along with an intensive period of observation. Sculptures are constructed with natural materials often collected at the site with prior permission. Care is taken to minimize the environmental impact to the sculptural site with collected natural materials returned to their original locations at the end of the exhibition.
In addition to the installation, I will often develop educational components such as walks and talks to help viewers engage with the work and the environment.
