April 15 - April 19 Week 72/72

pink azaleas, grape-hyacinths

and the first dazzling heads of dandelions

sing with vibrant color, but it is the white

symbols of mourning that hold my attention

seventy-two seasons have appeared and

disappeared flowing into each other and myself

slowly, I stroll the yard finding momentary joy in

softly textured daffodil petals that point to memories

of the past year tucked into weathered milkweed pods

moving on, I peer into the depths of tiny andromeda blooms

that hint at just how much still remains to be discovered

How did I miss this one? It's been a very rough period here, with a painful death imminent for my former husband, bringing so many of these musings on white flowers. Thank you.
