rich soil, heavy rains and long
sun-filled days build a stave
on which the plants are playing
songs of their own making
yellow and purple beans appear
seemingly overnight singing a
seductive melody to all my senses
while nearby the hyssop hums
quiet promises of nectar
to passing butterflies
