I am in a state of disbelief over so many social issues that have been in the news this past week. The efforts currently underway to undermine Roe v. Wade are unconscionable. If the government is going to keep getting involved with an individual's ability to make their own health care decisions, I say doctors should be subjected to a 99 year prison sentence for treating any male for any impotency or erectile disfunction issues and all funding for any related drugs should be ended. After all, more non-functioning penises would mean less rapes, incest and unwanted pregnancies. Let's put this limitation of rights into the perspective of all other medical decisions and see how we feel. Guys out there, would you like your reproductive rights messed with and your doctors imprisoned for helping you?
And that is just the tip of the iceberg of crazy issues. Add to it immigration, degrading of relationships with countries around the world, placement of immigrants in counties with no supporting funding, environmental concerns...the list is endless and I am beginning to feel like I am suffering from PTSD. I am also finding it hard to believe that this is the future we want to create for our future generations. It is time to once again drag out our placards, wear our t-shirts, email our legislators, band together and envision and work for a better future.
Imagine
John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky
Imagine all the people Living for today (ah ah ah)
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion, too
Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one
