I actually saw a single gigantic dragonfly earlier this week. It was shading itself under the eaves of the shop. The creatures around here are really stressed by the weather. Crow babies are showing up looking for cat food. An absolutely gigantic ground hog (about 50 lbs) ate six cabbages and every broccoli plant scattered throughout the terraces. It is turning into my terror garden as I imagine the plantings demolished by wildlife who increasingly have no wild. My original plans clearly are not sustainable as more and more animals count on our space. I have focused on perennial and edible. Until this week, it had not occurred to me that it was multi-species edible way beyond bees, birds, and…

What you are saying about more and more animals using your space is very true. We have had an influx of nesting birds this year on our tiny little space, mainlyI think because of leaving the leaves and having no dogs or cats. But I do wonder just how many we can support along with chipmunks etc. I have had to resort to growing any human food inside a mini greenhouse I put up.
